Everything about Dewees Island totally explained

Dewees Island is a residential community on a barrier island near Charleston, South Carolina. The environmentally-conscious community is designed to live in harmony with its natural surroundings. Even when Dewees is completely developed, over 95% of the island will remain in its natural state. The island is over 1,200 acres (4.9 km²), however only 150 homesites will ever be constructed. Real estate ranges from $330,000 to $2,200,000.
There are no cars on Dewees Island, as the community is designed to be environmentally friendly. Instead, the Aggie Gray ferry boat runs between the Isle of Palms and Dewees Island. The primary mode of transportation on Dewees is by electric golf carts. While some work vehicles are permitted for construction and maintenance, the use of gas-powered vehicles is prohibited.
